TOURISM EXPOSED: TOP MICE DESTINATIONS

Tourism Exposed is an event organized by TRIP that showcases the different countries around the world that is selected according to theme each sem. Every group is assigned to a country from which they must show the culture , food and a lot more about their assigned country and just like any other group our group was assigned to a country and that country is CANADA.
The preparation for this event is done a month before and really big effort is given to this event by each group just like us. In order to set up our booth we need to go to places like divisoria to buy the needed design for our booth and also to buy the food to be serve to the judges and for the people who would visit our booth because we must make them feel Canada itself in our booth and how it is chosen to be a Top MICE destination.
The whole experience itself is really something to treasure, the efforts to make and find the costumes for our models, the layout of the booth and the food to be serve. We may not won any awards but the feeling itself to be part of such an event is really a joy and also a learning that our group would really treasure. And as what we say A Mari Usque Ad Mare.

Tourism Exposed is held every first and third term of the school year. There are different themes for every term. Each group consists of eight members. The country that was assigned to us was CANADA. Weeks before the event, we were asked to do a research about Canada. We had to know Canada's culture, food, national dance and costume and why is it a top Mice Destination. We had to pass a concept paper about our booth and the costume that will be used for the Fashion Show on the day itself. There were Question and Answer portions with Mr. Siocon beforehand to prepare us for the judges' questions. Team work was really a must at that time because without it, we wouldn't be successful. It was pretty easy because my group mates were my friends so, teamwork wasn't really a problem.

I was chosen to be the muse for our group and my partner was Ram Santos. I was supposed to wear a white gown but we thought that it was really simple.

We decided that I'll just wear a red sleeveless and a white shorts. But, Mr. Siocon didn't approve the shorts because he wouldn't want me to expose too much body parts. So, we decided that I'll wear white pants, instead.

Two days before the event, I went to Divisoria to get my wings done. It was customized because it wasn't a normal wings, it was a Maple-shaped wings. We were on a budget so we really can't spend much money on my wings. The good thing was the guy from Divisoria offered a cheap price for my wings so I took it.

My wings were supposed to look like this.

During the preparation of the booth, one day before the event, we went back to Divisoria to get my wings. I was shocked because it was really big. I thought that it would just fit me, but it was really huge. Audrey and I had a hard time carrying it around Divisoria and going back to taft. On the day itself, I was so excited to wear the wings and all. The fashion show was at 1pm. Few hours before that, there were judges roaming around, visiting each booth and were asking questions. We had to make an introduction for our booth. Our first visitor was the dean. After they introduced our country, I appeared and the dean was surprised because I came from the side and I was wearing my wings. They found it funny and we did too. teehee! During the fashion show, I was really nervous because I was afraid that I might slip. The runway was small and my wings are big. I was afraid that I might hit someone. Then during the walk, I wasn't nervous anymore. I wore a big smile on my face and walked as if I'm a model. It was a really wonderful experience because it boost my confidence. It's okay if we didn't win, we had fun anyways.
